NEAR WORLD
flood of images from the Worldwideweb deliver material and  inspire the painter Dagmar Rauwald, based in Hamburg (Germany) in her work. Multimedia image designs, Internet-Memes, can be found as abstract gestures and writings in her work again.
The special technique of representation is to span transparencies above frames and display the picture as something pulsing before the actual surface.
The transparency of the image enables parallel also an insight in something vague behind, a space of possibilities which is not yet determined.
In her exhibition at Japanese C.A.P. Rauwald relates to different sources in the internet according to Japanese culture. She analyzes various perspectives on gender identity patterns and refers among other phenomenons to the film Rushomon of Akira Kurosawa, which is freely available on the Internet. Those investigations find an expression by emotional gestures and written commentaries in her paintings.
The specific way of commenting in the internet will be transformed into the exhibition as Visitors are invited to comment on at the beginning still free image-grounds, which belong to the Installation of paintings.  The Frames are hanging next to Rauwald`s paintings and refer in this constellation to Japanese traditional storytelling.
Herewith visitors are both invited to participate and also motivated to experiment with a specific expression of a time-relating perspective on paintings.

ハンブルグ在住の画家、ダグマー・ラウバルト。インターネットから溢れるイメージは彼女のインスピレーションをかき立て、そしてネットから溢れるイメージはそのまま作品の素材となる。ネットに溢れる多様なメディアによる効果、視覚的なデザインが抽象的な動きやテキストとなって彼女の作品に現れる。
額縁に渡された透明な皮膜を広げて絵画を実際の表層の手前で律動するかのように提示するのが、イメージの再表現をおこなう際の彼女のテクニックだ。
KOBE STUDIO Y3での展示では、ネット上に存在する日本をめぐる様々な素材を関係づけてゆく。「rose&blue」のシリーズでは、特に黒澤作品「羅生門」を参照し、ジェンダーにおける様々な視座をめぐる考察を行なっていく。

Artist Statement – Dagmar Rauwald

I understand painting as visual arguing. By doing paintings I organize the diversity of intentions towards world. As a kind of abstract writing the paintings explore actual questions and present values which constitutes (my/our) social reality. I concentrate on processes which are relevant to feel and grasp what enables being alive in a social and ecological context.
I balance color in between token gestures and free accidently settings and take care that there is scope for unconsciously crossover. While focusing the dissimilarity of visual and verbal express- sions it is an ongoing congress with multilayer contradictions. By this process I expand and deep- en experiences and explore new expressions of visibility. The gestic drawings do not try to freeze objects or optical phenomenons, do not repeat styles of expressions but rather becomes figures of thinking and sensing. The basic element which constitutes the work is color.
